Begin with what is going in.

A bag of hedge clippings and a bag of broken concrete take up similar space but have very different weights. Write down the main materials before comparing volumes.

Our drawings and bag counts are sample guides. They do not establish a weight limit or guarantee that a container will fit a particular drive.

Keep a little room in the plan.

  • Describe the largest items and whether they can be separated.
  • Tell the operator about bricks, concrete, soil or turf.
  • Discuss plasterboard and excluded materials before delivery.
  • Check the skip’s actual dimensions and the delivery vehicle’s access.

Choose “Not sure yet” if the guide does not settle it. A real operator would confirm suitability and the permitted load before agreeing the hire.

Agree the loading limit.

Use the operator’s instructions and keep the load within the agreed fill and weight limits. Do not pile materials above the container’s permitted loading line.

Our sample service excludes hazardous waste, electricals and upholstered seating. A separate disposal arrangement may be needed for materials outside the agreed load.

Plan the collection too.

Tell the operator about a longer project before the original hire ends. A planned exchange may suit work carried out in stages, subject to the next load and vehicle access.
